All sales on behalf of the West Dean Church Fund
My cards are mostly made up of a selection of scenes captured close to where I live in Wiltshire, England. I live in the small and rural village of West Dean with the wonderful Bentley Wood just fifteen minutes walk away. The family spends a lot of time in Bentley Wood, walking, cycling, having picnics, building forts and nature watching. The New Forest National Park is a little further away, maybe fifteen minutes in the car, but we often venture out to The New Forest for walks and family adventures.
Our local church, St Marys Church, is an Anglican Church that was built in 1866 and is a Grade II listed building. It was built to replace a much older church on the site. The church is in the Early English style, constructed of flint, stone and brick with a semi circular apse. Stained glass windows by William Morris were added in 1916. Some features from the old church were incorporated in the new building including some medieval tiles and the Norman font basin which was re-erected on a pedestal of Caen stone. The three bells were also taken from the old church and re-hung in the new bell tower.
Recently, St Mary's Church has required some much needed repairs, including essential repairs to the roof. There has been an active campaign in the village to raise funds to repair the church and I'm selling my cards on behalf of the West Dean Church Fund where all profits will be going to the repair of St Mary's Church, West Dean.
