My Second Year

Welcome to my online photographic exhibition.

Here I am after two years and still at it - I'm told the first three years are the hardest in developing a commitment to a hobby, after that it becomes more of an obsession and harder to give up? I have one more year to go!

I would like to introduce you to my current exhibition - My Second Year - where I showcase 12 images from 2022. I feel I have improved, but then you will be the judge of that. I still accept that I have a lot to learn. But then I think that is the wonderful thing about art and photography, you never stop learning and developing (excuse the pun!).

So what have I learnt over the last two years? I think the most important lesson is patience. When you head out you won't - or more to the point - you don't need to return with an image. When you start out, everyone is impatient, which is understandable, you have just spent money on a new camera and you want to show your family and friends what you can create with it. But when you consider that even top landscape photographers might get just a few good images a year, how can a beginner expect to create a portfolio of images in an outing. Yes, I have learnt patience is important.

Secondly, I have learnt that not all compositions work, in-fact, very few do, so when you find one commit it to memory and keep returning to the scene. You will be amazed at how the light, the weather, the season, the time of day, etc. can change a composition and add dimension to something you have already captured.

To enter the exhibition just click the on the link to "Photographsbelow. On each photo page at the bottom right of the image there is a white box with a forward >, back < and play button to allow you to navigate the photo album. You can click on the image to expand the album and get more info on each image. Finally there is an "Exit" link at the bottom of the page when you are ready to leave the exhibition. This will take you to a comments page and any feedback would be welcome. If you click out of the exhibition in error then just use the back or forward buttons on your browser.

Thank you for joining me.
