Welcome to my online photographic exhibition.

 

My First Year is a showcase of my work during 2020-2021 and the start of, hopefully, many more years of landscape photography to come. 

As we all know too well, 2020 - 2021 was in the midst of the pandemic, disrupting our lives and causing millions of deaths. For most of us it meant spending weeks and then months in lockdowns and working from home. It meant being isolated from loved ones and losing many freedoms taken for granted prior to the pandemic. It was through the frustrations of lockdown after lockdown that I rekindled my relationship with photography. I needed something to keep my mind active, something to do outside of chasing my two young boys. In this exhibition I showcase 2021, the year I returned to photography after almost two decades.

I am no professional. I enjoy photography as a hobby, and I am learning as I go along. I feel that even within a year I've matured and learnt a great deal, but I still have a long way to go. My webpage has encouraged me to improve. Why spend so much time taking photographs, then hours tweaking the images, only to file them away forever in a hard drive under the desk? Many of these pictures have been taken a short distance from my home, the reality of living through the lockdowns. When we were allowed to travel and visit loved ones again, the family also spent time on holiday in Cornwall and Wales.
